Prepping a 15s gameplay video

Mobile publishers often judge a game first by a short video, and some use it directly as the test ad. PlayDucky asks for a 15–30 second gameplay video for its CTR test (PlayDucky). Voodoo's submission includes a gameplay video (Voodoo terms).

Rules of thumb

Checklist

  1. Write a 3-beat script: hook, loop, payoff.
  2. Record several takes on a real device using its built-in screen recorder.
  3. Trim to 15 seconds, and keep a 30-second cut for publishers that allow it.
  4. Export as MP4 (H.264) unless the form asks for something else.
  5. Check the publisher's form for exact length and format limits before you upload.
